Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Bio Vera

Who is behind Bio Vera?

Bio Vera was founded by Jovica Mihajlovic and is based in Hamburg. It is part of the Vera Group portfolio; the operating platform is built by Vera IT.

Who can join as a grower?

The grower programme is open to producers throughout Europe who are willing to follow Bio Vera production and documentation standards. Current certification status is not by itself a barrier to applying.

Are you a marketplace?

No. Bio Vera is the programme operator and merchant for produce sold under its standards. We are not a listing site that only matches unknown parties.

What is a digital product passport?

A digital product passport is a structured record of a batch’s journey and compliance evidence. At Bio Vera, each batch can be linked to a QR-accessible dossier covering origin, harvest context, quality checks, cold-chain custody and programme certificates as applicable.

What is Bio Vera?

Bio Vera is a German agrifood company headquartered in Hamburg based in Hamburg, Germany. We contract growers throughout Europe, run quality assurance and packing, operate refrigerated logistics, and sell fresh produce under our own programme. Every batch carries a documented digital passport from parcel to shelf. Bio Vera is not a marketplace that only connects strangers.

How does Bio Vera ensure product quality?

We use our Protocol 360 system, which includes three levels of quality control: field-level soil analysis (Eco-Safe Audit), biometric scanning at packaging centers, and cold chain monitoring during transport. Every product is verified before reaching the market.

What certifications does Bio Vera support?

We facilitate GlobalG.A.P. IFA v6 group certification and ensure all products meet international and EU market standards. Our systems support certification management and compliance tracking globally.

How do I become a Bio Vera producer?

Apply through our Growers page with farm, certification and capacity details. Our agronomy and compliance team reviews fit for producers throughout Europe and, when programme capacity aligns, guides you through joining the Vera grower programme — the fruit and vegetables we merchandise to buyers.

What are the requirements to become a producer?

Producers need to have valid agricultural operations, comply with EU standards, and be willing to implement our quality control protocols. GlobalG.A.P. certification is preferred but we can help you obtain it.

How are payments processed?

Payment terms are agreed in advance as part of the relevant production or supply agreement. Invoices and due dates follow the payment terms set out in your contract with Bio Vera — not a fixed number of hours or an escrow arrangement.

How do I place an order?

Create a buyer account, browse available products, and place orders through Bio Vera. You can track your orders in real time and receive digital certificates for each delivery.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimum order quantities vary by product and producer. You can see specific requirements when browsing products. We support both retail and wholesale orders.

How can I verify product authenticity?

Every product has a QR code that links to its digital passport. Scan the code to see complete traceability information, including origin, farmer details, quality certifications, and transport history.

How do I become a logistics partner?

Apply through our Logistics Partner page. We welcome independent drivers, small vans, and larger transport companies. Requirements include valid licenses, GPS tracking capability, and commitment to cold chain compliance.

What is the Bio Vera: From Orchard to Shelf program?

This program requires logistics partners to take end-to-end responsibility for transport, from farm pickup to final delivery. You ensure complete cold chain integrity, GPS tracking, and digital handover at every stage.

How are logistics partners compensated?

Partners receive automated payments upon successful delivery verification. Payment amounts are based on distance, cargo type, and delivery requirements. All payments are processed digitally with no paperwork delays.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, we have mobile applications for growers and logistics partners. The apps support offline functionality, GPS tracking, barcode scanning, and real-time synchronization when online.

How does the traceability system work?

We chain field diaries, GPS timestamps, authorised device capture and QR labels so each custody hop is stamped in one dossier auditors can replay—rather than spreadsheets that contradict each other the week before payout.

What security measures are in place?

We use end-to-end encryption, role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication, and regular security audits. All data is stored securely and complies with GDPR regulations.
